Catholics Returning Home  Evangelization Committee  How to Help Someone Return
Journey of Faith Confirmation Baptism

 What is Evangelization?

It’s the sharing of our Catholic faith in Jesus Christ with our family, friends and fellow parishioner as we journey home.

Am I called to evangelize and how should I do it?

We are all called to share our Catholic faith.  There are many ways and opportunities to share our faith.  The most important opportunity is by our example.  Do we live our faith at work, home and in personal dealings with others?  You may also consider joining the Evangelization Committee, which welcomes new members to the parish, share information about the liturgy of the Church as well as conducting outreach programs to bring non-practicing Catholics back to the Church through the Catholics Returning Home program.  You may consider learning more about our faith through adult Religious Education.  Finally, we best communicate our faith by sharing our personal faith journey in our own words telling our individual story to friends, family and any interested party.

Where can I learn more about the Catholic faith?

Evangelization Committee

The Evangelization Committee welcomes new parishioners to our community.  The Committee helps to strengthen the presence of Christ in their lives by providing religious literature during the liturgical year and information regarding participation in various St. Charles’ organizations.  The Committee also tries to return Catholics to their faith through outreach and listening programs.

If you wish to join us, we meet on the first Monday of the month at 6:00 PM in the Kastner Room.  If you wish more information, please email us at vinnienola@aol.com.

Prayer of Thomas Merton

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me.  I cannot know for certain where it will end.  Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following Your will, does not mean that I am actually doing so.

But I believe that the desire to please You does-in-fact-please You.  And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.

And I know that if I do this, You will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it.  Therefore, will I trust You always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death.  I will not fear, for You are ever with me, and You will never leave me to face my perils alone.

Catholics Returning Home:
How to Help Someone Return

Do you know someone who has left the Church? Most of us do not have to look very far to find non-practicing Catholics in our circle of family and friends.  Many of us are concerned about these loved ones however we don’t know how to help them.  Obviously, most of them are searching, but how can we help them find their way home?

As baptized, practicing Catholics we have a precious gift of faith and love from the Lord that needs to be shared with our non-practicing brothers and sisters.  First, we need to pray for them.  Secondly, we need to extend a personal invitation to them to come home to the Catholic Church.  Most non-practicing Catholics are waiting for an invitation to return.  Many mistakenly think they are excommunicated and are not welcome to return for a variety of reasons.

Many non-practicing Catholics carry a tremendous amount of guilt and misinformation about the Church so they are afraid of approaching the Church for fear of being rejected.  You can make a tremendous difference in someone’s life simply by reaching out to them and telling them that we miss them and would like for them to come back home to our Church family.

Here at St. Charles we have a special program to help non-practicing Catholics return to the Church called Catholics Returning Home.   Please pass this article on to anyone who might be interested.  For more information send email message to vinnienola@aol.com.  We will also send a personal letter to a friend or family member if you think they may be interested.
