The small, white frame house sits on a side street next to the ball field of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.  You would think it was just another house in the neighborhood, but people gathering on the front porch know it is much, much more.

The St. Charles-McAuley Clinic provides free health services and medicine for people who could not otherwise afford even basic medical care.  Since it opened in September of 1993, the clinic has helped hundreds of people from all over Oklahoma City.  The clinic came about through the efforts of the Social Ministry Board of St. Charles parish.  The church was using the house at 4915 N. State Street as a meeting place, but felt the space could be put to better use.  After investigating several possibilities, the board decided to develop a free neighborhood medical clinic.

Board members provided the labor to renovate the property.  They approached local health centers, like Mercy Hospital, to help out and fill some of the gaps.  They recruited physicians, nurses and parishioners to work as volunteers, and they obtained donated medicine to start a pharmacy.

What people come to the clinic for free medical care?

  • Young mothers with small children

  • College students with no insurance

  • People out of work or work in jobs that do not have benefits

  • Retired couples who can not qualify for Medicare

  • Tuesday's clinics are devoted to the care of Diabetic's and it is by appointment only.  We have had tremendous success in assisting our patients with diabetes to a better level of wellness.

At one time or another, any one of us may need the health services of the St. Charles Clinic.  At different points in our lives, we all need someone to care.

Mission Statement
Motivated by the healing ministry of Christ, the St. Charles - Catherine McAuley Clinic
is committed to improving access to healthcare within our community.

How the St. Charles-McAuley Clinic can help you

Assisted by nurses, physicians at the clinic diagnose and trat basic illnesses, perform some lab tests and prescribe medications.  The clinic dispenses donated medications.  Prescription medications must be purchased and if the patient can not afford the prescription, St. Charles Borromeo Church and Catherine McAuley Community Trust pay the bill.  We also provide wellness education for individuals with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and teach Breast Self Examinations.

We are not able to assist individuals with possible broken bones and potentially life threatening conditions such as heart attacks or strokes.  If you are experiencing any of these you need to go to your nearest hospital emergency room.
